The Central Coast and Hunter Region is one of the fourteen regions of the Australian Alpaca Association. Its southern most tip starts at the Hawkesbury River (just north of Sydney) and extends north following the line of the coast, through the Central Coast and Newcastle and up to just south of Coffs Harbour. Inland it stretches to include the New England towns of Armidale and Tamworth as well as the Hunter Valley (Map).
Just as we range over hills, valleys and plains, our members range from hobby farmers and lifestyle owners, to much larger studs with many alpaca roaming in the paddocks. However, we all share the common bond that is the alpaca, whether it be the Suri or Huacaya.
This region has earned its great reputation for outstanding breeding by the exhibiting and winning of many shows around the country. We are proud to say that we can boast Supreme Champions and Champions in both animal and fleece classes.
Our region is also the convener of three shows each year; New England (June), Mid North Coast Alpaca Show at Kendall (July)and The Spring Show (at Wyong Racecourse in August (this year)). We also run displays at Wool Expo (Armidale), Lasiandra Festival (Wauchope), Flora Fest (Central Coast), Newcastle, Kempsey, Macksville and Taree Shows and at the Tocal Field Days and an annual sale day; Alpacas on Parade (June).

The regional newsletter is the "Alpaca Hmmm...", which is published four times year. Advertising is discounted for regional members, but is welcomed from anywhere. The newsletter is also available by subscription to non members. (contact the
